Work hard and Push yourself to the limits to be the best

We naturally tend to look for the easy way out and follow the path of least resistance when attempting to achieve our goals. Paying the price and following due process seems to be a real pain. If we had our way, we would love to receive the prize without paying the price. Slogans like “Do not work hard, work smart” sound like music in our ears. We hope we can achieve the desired result by doing little or no work. Many have taken this to mean that there is a lazy way to achieve success. If you tried these short cuts before, you know that nothing can be further from the truth. There is no lazy route to the top. For sure, effort can be wasted if not applied intelligently. Working smart should be the norm. Hard work comes into play within the context of working smart. Without hard work, you cannot go far.

Cristiano Ronaldo won, the world`s best player for the year 2013 and deservedly so he won it. And to those around him, they all agree he is a beats in the gym works hard and pushes himself to the limits. What a physic great body he has, and an envy of many.

Becoming the very best in whatever field of endeavor requires a lot of hard work. It is estimated that it takes 10,000 hours of hard work to get to the top of any field. You simply have to pay your dues. The best in any field are the hardest working folks with very strong work ethics. They come in a little earlier, work a little harder and close a little later. They do not hang with the crowd and their performance is at the top level. The best athletes in the world work harder than their peers. They show up first at the practice pitch and usually stay behind practicing long after their colleagues have left to go catch some fun in town.

“Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work” – Stephen King

A young man Tangeni, in Walvis Bay said to me, “Lionel Messi is 100% pure talent and Cristiano Ronaldo is 100% pure hard work.” What a befitting way to describe the two and that makes Cristiano`s winning so special. In life if you set your eyes on achieving anything and work hard towards that goal, nothing absolutely nothing can stop you from becoming the man or woman you have desired to be. Ronaldo has worked hard to get the “perfect” physique for football.

His physical evolution incorporated all facets of athletic performance, with additional sprint and reaction work polishing up his raw, genetic gifts. But it was the mastering of strength workouts and Olympic lifts – total body exercises performed in an explosive manner at pace – that were behind the development of a muscular physique that has gone on to adorn billboards and magazine covers across the world. Deadlifts and power cleans were two favorites’ in his gym routine, with the level of resistance and speed of execution slowly increased over his near six years in Manchester. Clegg added: “I would say, physically, he is the perfect specimen. From his height to his natural body type, muscular structure, how much fat he’s got in his system, his endurance capacity, flexibility, power and strength – they are in perfect balance.

We have to work hard smartly. We have to commit to doing what it takes to attain the skill level we desire or achieve the goal we aim for. In an increasingly competitive world, talent is no longer the differentiator but hard work is. Given the same skill level, if you practice when your opponent is doing something else, by the time both of you meet, it is easy to guess who will get the upper hand. Work hard, work smart, work harder, do whatever it takes to achieve your goal. There is no alternative to hard work. Folks that peddle easy solutions through books they sell worked hard to write and market those books. They are the ones that will get rich quick, if they find enough gullible folks to buy their story. You end up with the book while they end up with the money. Short cuts are often the longer route to your destination. By the time you find out that it does not work, you would have wasted valuable time, energy and resources. Principles are no respecter of persons. It is possible to find an easier way to accomplish a task, but there is no alternative to hard work when it comes to sustainable success.

“He had in his mind, ‘I need to make myself special and I’m going to have to learn everything I need to become special. I’m going to have to regiment my day and my week, months and years and become as good as I can be by every possible means.’ He had a plan.” It seems strange looking back, but in Ronaldo’s early years at the Theatre of Dreams there were doubts he would make the grade at all. Clegg said: “For every mistake he made in a game, he’d spend hours and hours and hours practicing to make sure it didn’t happen again. Generally with players, if they try something and it doesn’t work, they don’t try it again, they fear it – but he didn’t. No chance. Few who spent time around the gyms at Manchester United and Real Madrid would argue he deserves anything less.

“It’s not the will to win that matters – everyone has that. It is the will to prepare to win that matters” – Paul Bryant

Hard work separates the men from the boys. It takes a tremendous amount of self-discipline to work hard in a focused manner until one attains expertise in any field or achieves a significant goal. Hard work also involves focus on personal growth, development and continuous improvement. Study and continuous learning is hard work. It takes hard work and discipline to finish one good book a week if you have a day job and also mind your business after hours. Often we know what we need to do to advance to the next level, but lack the discipline and hard work ethic to do it now. We leave for tomorrow stuff we could do today as procrastinators concerned. We console ourselves that we will cross the bridge when we get to it. Rather than prepare for tomorrow today, we lull ourselves into mediocrity by thinking that tomorrow will take care of itself. It does not work that way. The future belongs to those who prepare for it today.

He’s always improving and because of that, he is the best.

A life worthy lived

Live life to the full

Live life to the full

No regrets indeed.

No regrets indeed.

By Coach Herbert

Its only now as I get to be a real mature man who I know without any doubt that I am happy with the path my life is taking. What a shame it wasn’t earlier, because how much better would all of those adult years have been that I’ve seen go by. Does this sound familiar to you also?

One of my passionate goals in life is to get others to realize that they are capable of so much more, and helping them to choose the path which feels right for them. That is the major reason that made me start this page –Coach Herbert, where I open up to you about life and my path of life`s experiences, so that you don’t figure out too late about your life`s agenda. I don’t want people to struggle with stuff that kept me down and going through a cycle but going nowhere, I want to cheer you up, urge you, be your life`s cheer leader at no cost at all.

I talked to someone around the end of last year, on my travel to Windhoek, who reminded me of why this goal is of such importance. I simply asked him how he was, and his reply ‘I’m great, spent a lovely morning with my lady and our baby, but at midday I have to go to work, and will have 8 hours of boredom and nothingness.’ He isn’t alone many I speak to, are lifeless, tired, in forever boredom mode, nothing seems to be making them enjoy their lives by far and large.

I’m wondering to myself whether this dude, realizes that the choice to be happy is his to make.

Right now he is stuck in a semi miserable life, yet so young a life but already he feels like a spent force a man waiting to die and with regrets of what would have been yet he is only in his late 20`s. He loves the personal side of his life, but when it comes to his career, well he doesn’t have one, he simply does a job, one he hates. Many people are trapped in their own fears, of careers, they are afraid to be and do what they love to do most, because they assume they are too old to embark on a discovery and fulfillment journey.

This job that he hates doesn’t pay well either. Things are a bit of a struggle for him now financially. Yet I know he is an extremely hard-working man. So why does he put up with this? I repeat he isn’t alone, many who are reading this and many you know family and friends are all trapped in such a hole.

Does he feel that he doesn’t deserve something better, or simply believe nothing better is available for him? He can look around, talk to many and find his situation is not in the least unusual. It’s common for people to hate their jobs, feeling stuck with no options. Sad many are trapped in the fear of old age, wasted opportunities, wasted time, I felt in my heart, if I can kick some of you between your teeth to wake you up into greatness, my joy would be complete.

Yet things could be so different for him and every one of those like him. It starts with being able to dream and think of all the things he could do with his life, setting goals to reach and believing he can do them. We only have a finite amount of time on earth, so isn’t it just sensible to view our time spent here as an opportunity to grow, evolve and to find happiness by finding the place that’s right for us.

His life will change dramatically the minute he decides that he truly wants to figure out what he wants to do with his life. The people who achieve happiness and success are those who choose refuse to settle for less than what they’re worth and are determined to find the path that is right for them.

We all – every one of us – have a right path, but does this matter enough to us to try to find it?
I want to know your thoughts, are you on the right path, or the wrong, and if the latter do you want to find out how to make the change so you can get things to move in the right direction. Invite others to like the page, not for me to have many people around me, but if I could be honored to speak into the lives of many, and see them smiling again in accomplishments and purpose of life, my joy would be complete and full.

If I would speak into many, many generations through one person or a few people, which is a life, lived fruitfully for me.

Unleash the Greatness Inside you

In my life, travels and walk I have met with people from variousGreatnessSurviving the rough and tough backgrounds, both black and white rich and poor, but all they have in common is the want to become and be what life has designed them to be.I connect with people just starting out on the career road. So many seem dejected early on by what they see as a lack of opportunities and the uncertainties of a volatile economy. They don’t seem to be able to figure for themselves the best route to take.

My career journey accelerated beyond belief the moment I began to focus my time and effort on the things that I love to do.It hasn’t been easy but the day I made up my mind and told Herbert-me,there is greatness in you unleash it,then I pursued relentlessly and when after my dreams with all vigor and passion.

The one piece of advice I want to offer today, probably the most important thing anybody can learn for themselves is that your greatness lies within you. Here is a quote I suggest you take some time to absorb:

As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world, but in being able to remake ourselves. – Mahatma Gandhi

Within every one of us lies our inner greatness, the power to excel in the outside world. Each of us has unbelievable infinite capabilities within us just waiting for us to tap into it and then realize our rewards. We need to dream big and then do our utmost to make what it is we dream of. Just as important, we must never give up on those dreams.

If Thomas Edison had given up after his many failed attempts he would never have invented the light bulb. Edison said, “I have not failed 1,000 times. I have successfully discovered 1,000 ways to NOT make a light bulb.” He never doubted that ultimately he would succeed. Within himself he had that knowledge that the answers lay within, he just had to uncover them, and it didn’t matter how many unsuccessful attempts he made.

The power that lies within you is truly amazing. How often have you read about the importance of turning your thoughts from negative to positive. Well here let me go one step forward. You can do any dream when it is fully powered by an inner drive that unleashes your inner greatness which in turn taps into that infinite capability that lies within. There can be no more powerful force, and the dramatic results that you can do will be like nothing else.

Your starting point is to believe in you and have faith in your abilities. Then find the courage to go for your dreams. You just need to realize you are more powerful than you can possibly imagine.

You have a limitless potential. Your inner greatness allows you to see your possibilities, ideas, aspirations, dreams and how to fulfill them. Greatness is achieved by trusting your inner guidance and following through on it.

Every one of you should be excited about bringing your greatness to the world. Think about the amazing, extraordinary, impressive impact you will have on everything around you and the world itself. Isn’t that something that will spur you out of your bed every morning filled with energy and passion.

I know that greatness lives within every single person and you just have to find your path to that greatness so the world can see you shine. Each and every one of you is uniquely special, blessed and gifted. You can live up to your potential, you just have to want to enough.

I know a wonderfully gifted young man, much more gifted than me and many I have come across. So talented, such a wonderful loving person. Yet so doubting of his own abilities. If only he would believe in his potential for greatness, and know that his true greatness lies within him. All he would then have to do is get in touch with this greatness so he was no longer living in the shadow of the life he could be living.

As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” So it doesn’t matter what has gone before, what type of life has been lived, you have in front of you a path that is yours to take, and create in a wonderful way if you allow your greatness to come to the forefront.

To me your starting point is ask yourself, ‘What do you love to do?’ Discover the answer, bring it into your life, be great at doing it!

“Greatness lies, not in being strong, but in the right using of strength; and strength is not used rightly when it serves only to carry a man above his fellows for his own solitary glory. He is the greatest whose strength carries up the most hearts by the attraction of his own.” – Henry Ward Beecher

I wish you all the best in finding out the treasures deposited in your life.I wish you good, in finding your greatness, and don’t forget to enjoy the journey! Best wishes to you for the year 2014.
